"Shutterstock
The most popular subscription based stock agency in the world. This agency pays well for beginners in stock photography, but does not pay well for full-time or high end stock photographers like myself. The uploading system is medium time-consuming and their rejections are fair in regards to digital quality. No upload limits.

Take a look at Shutterstock HERE, the link open up in a new window.

If you submit images, DO:
Do read the explanations of the various categories, guidelines for participating in the forums, and possible reasons for receiving rejections (all listed below).

25. February 2009, 07:44 Shutterstock, Selling graphics www.sellinggraphics.com

"If you want to get accepted on Shutterstock site, you have to send them 10 pictures and 7 of them must be accepted. If not, you may try again after one month. Why is it so important to get on Shutterstock? Because Shutterstock is the best microstock site for photographers and graphic artists (check the list of other microstock sites).

Licence structure:

Royalty-free (RF)
"Free" in this context means "free of royalties (paying each time you use an image)". It does not mean the image is free to use without purchasing a license or that the image is in the public domain.Pay a one-time fee to use the image multiple times for multiple purposes (with limits). No time limit on when the buyer can use an image.
No one can have exclusive rights of a Royalty-free image (the photographer can sell the image as many times as he or she wants).

empe.hun is an informaiton based website about photography. Mostly stock photography and microstock photography but also about art, and hobby shooting. As I'm a beginner, there will be my experiments in the blog, just reinventing the wheel. My English is Jabba the Hutt, so please forgive me!

The beginning of photography

Why I started photography:

Dunno. One day I woke up and I knew I want to take shots of everything.

What I knew then:

  • It can't be difficult, so many does it.
  • If I have a fine entry level DSLR I can do anything.
  • The biggest pain is to choose a camera.

What about a half year later:

  • I take 20 000 expos in 6 months, and still know just a few facts.
  • The camera itself is nothing. The pictures are born in the head.
  • The same big pain to choose the flash, the lens, the lighting, etc...

Before the first photos

I started thinking about photography, when the Canon EOS 550d arrived. I read the tests, and made my decision. With this camera, i felt like in the old times, when I just started to play the guitar, and wanted an overall performer. The EOS 550d can let me taste everything a bit. Not the best in noise, or AF, os speed, or anything at all, but very well balanced. So I can learn a lot with this camera body. One of my friends, Peter, owned me a few good lens such as Canon EF 70-200mm f/4 L , and the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8, aka "nifty fifty". In comparison to the Canon EF-S 18-55mm kit lens, in a few weeks i become able to see the difference. At firs it was not so obvous then now, that the kit lens needs more concetration on the tecnique, to get acceptable results, while the more professional and also more expensive lenses lets me concentrate on the compositing not on how to avoid chromatic aberration and other issues.
